The fibers of Jute are naturally off white to brown colour. To weave stylish patterns and printing techniques into sarees weavers use Jute fibers. They blends it with other fibers such as cotton, silk, wool, nylon, rayon etc.

Unquestionably, Jute is not only used to produce Sarees but also used to produce Purses, accessories, sweaters, rayon clothes and etc.

The single warp is usually ornamented with two extra weft followed by the basic ground weft. There are linear or floral motifs that are generously distributed all over the saree and on the border. The pallu is elaborately and exquisitely designed making it tremendously attractive.

Once woven painstakingly by hand over the old fashioned Jala loom, certain innovations have simplified the manner in which it is woven. The Daccai Jamdhani saree is extremely soft to the touch and its easy flow follows the contours of the body perfectly.

Keywords: Chiffon Saree,sheer fabric,mesh-like weave,working woman,style,all-day comfort

The Chiffon Saree is characterized by a sheer quality of weave, which is both light and airy. A cool combination of style and all-day comfort, it has largely appealed to the working woman in society.

Chiffon is a French word meaning cloth. It is a fabric known for its sheer quality.Transparent, airy and light on the wearer the Chiffon Saree is made from finely drawn out cotton, silk or synthetic fibres, woven in the balanced plain weave style.

Chiffon Sarees with their extremely fine mesh-like weave and decorated with beautiful designs and patterns are available in most colours and shades. The greatest advantage of the Chiffon Saree lies in the fact that the saree does not wrinkle and retains its neat shape throughout the day. Added to it is the advantage that it requires very little maintenance.

A fabric that tends to fray or wear away, on slight rubbing to moderate friction, hand wash of the Chiffon Saree has to be done very carefully.

The fineness of the Chiffon Saree comes from the placing of a number of fibres very close to each other so that the threads per inch or count in the warp (length wise lay of threads stretched on a beam) and weft (breadth wise leading of thread across the warp, above and below its threads continuously) is high. The resulting criss-cross pattern of the threads or interstice makes a fine net through which hardly anything can pass through.

Preferred for the comfort and ‘breathing’ quality of the fabric that keeps the body cool and refreshed, not to mention the style statement that it makes, the Chiffon Saree is a boon to the working woman.

Designer prints, modern floral patterns and embroidery are innovatively us ed to adorn the Chiffon Saree, making it stylish and appealing. It is much preferred by office-goers, teachers, college professors and even corporate ladies for the all-day comfort that it provides.

Eye-catching traditional Rajasthani prints of Lehriya and Bandhini have sensationalized the look and appeal of the Chiffon Saree. Lehriya refers to a style of long lines across the body of the saree in brilliant and varied colours. Bandhini style refers to patterns and colours specific to certain festivals and social occasions. Both are equally popular among the fashion conscious.

Popular trends in regard to the Chiffon Saree have block prints on the body of the fabric, with contrasting colour pallus and patch border on both sides of the saree. These are popular and widely sought for weddings and grand occasions.

The Pure Fancy Chiffon Saree with Zari Buttis and an elegant Pallu is normally chosen for big functions and parties.

Unnatisilks has trendy designs, attractive patterns, in vivid colours and pleasing combinations in its large collection of Chiffon Sarees. Unnati is a one stop single store for over 300 varieties of traditional sarees and salwar kameez.Dispatch is within 24 hours of order. The Maheshwari Saree – Heartening Revival Of A Fine Tradition

The Maheshwari Saree, is a regal traditional offering, which despite the odds, has managed to survive the test of time. Emerging a winner, Maheshwari weaves continue to remain as a fine example of the devotion and dedicated efforts to preserve the purity of a traditional art.

Maheshwar is a town in Khargone district of Madhya Pradesh, India. Located close to Indore, the commercial capital of the state, it once had prominence as the capital of Malwa region during the rule of the Holkars.

It has also been since, a centre of handloom weaving.

Famed for its Maheshwari Sarees, the innovation of a royal queen, Rani Ahalyabai, Maheshwar is today home to the making of one of India’s finest traditional handloom fabrics.

The Maheshwari Saris are exclusive for their unique designs on silk and cotton fabrics, the fine use of zari and brilliant use of stripes, checks and exquisite floral borders.

Distinctive features of the Maheshwari Sarees are its light weight, shiny lustre, and a fine display of colours, with brilliant motifs, an attractive Pallu and a border to match.

The Pallu is particularly noted for the colourful stripes in varied colours such as green, pink, magenta, mauve, violet etc. which lend the fabric a mesmerising look. The border is also adorned by trendy designs and themes such as the Maheshwar fort and similar subjects.

There was a time at the start of the twentieth century when Modern Day industrialization slowly saw the advent and popularity of power looms. Change in trends, increased apathy of those in power, extremely disproportionate returns for the valuable time and effort put in the making of the Maheshwari Sarees, discouraged the weavers engaged in this art and threatened its extinction.

A descendant of the Holkars came as a God-send and the Rehwa Society was established in 1978, primarily for employment to women and encouraging the revival of this ethnic art.

Located in one of the historic buildings of the town, more than 100 weavers, mostly women, are engaged in the weaving of this fine fabric. Their families also get the much needed monetary aid and support services like healthcare in this mutually beneficial association.

The Maheshwar loom has the buttas or motifs and the borders made on the shuttles involving an intricate system of weaving. Coupled with dedicated introduction of innovations it has given the Maheshwari Sari its pride of place as one of the finest traditional fabrics that has survived the test of time and regained its former glory.

Elegant geometrical block printed motifs on the Maheswari cotton sari having a zari patti border is a refreshing change and makes comfortable wear through the day. It suits corporate office goers, college professors and those engaged in similar professions. It is also preferred for festivals and traditional occasions.

Maheswari silk sarees decorated with thread embroidery, kundans and beads are stylish and could be worn for conferences and social gatherings.

The printed Maheswari Sico sari with its patch border and zari pallu is most alluring wear and an eye-catching proposition for parties.

Unnati Silks, devoted to ethnic sarees and salwar kameez materials, trendy designs, attractive patterns, pleasing colour combinations, reasonable prices, dispatch within 24 hours of order, free delivery & COD for retail, world-wide express shipping.
